Starbucks began their operation in Thailand by opening its first coffeehouse in July 1998. Starbucks has expanded to 409 retail locations across the country. The company is dedicated to making the Starbucks Experience a rewarding part of the day for all its customers in Thailand, while contributing positively to the community through its sponsorship of sustainable coffee production with Thai hill tribes under the name of Muan Jai® (Thai blended coffee).

  • 1998

    Opened its first store in Thailand at Central Chidlom.

  • 2003

    Proudly introduced Starbucks Muan Jai Blend. 5% of the coffee sales is donated to support northern coffee farmer communities in Thailand.

  • 2004

    Initiated a ‘Book Drive’ activity, where customers were invited to donate children’s books to the Books for Children Foundation.

  • 2005

    Unveiled the Starbucks Card to elevate the Starbucks Experience and convenience.

  • 2007

    Celebrated ‘Starbucks 100th Store’ and hosted the ‘Good Coffee Day’ activity. Funds were donated to help build the Health Center at Baan Huai Som Poi community in Chiang Rai.

  • 2009

    The Starbucks Thailand Facebook page was launched gaining more than 1.6 million followers with high engagement and continuously growing.

  • 2011

    Introduced Starbucks VIA™ Ready Brew, a new ready-to-brew coffee that customers can enjoy anywhere at anytime.

  • 2012

    Welcomed special partners to be a part of the Starbucks family, currently with 12 special partners.

  • 2013

    Opened the first Community store in Asia at Starbucks Langsuan, where 10 Baht from every cup of Starbucks beverage goes to support improving the quality of life of local coffee farmers in the North of Thailand. The opening ceremony was joined by Mr. Howard Schultz (Starbucks Chairman Emeritus).

     

    Committed to building ‘greener stores’; Starbucks launched its first green store in Asia at Starbucks Porto Chino. The store is a Gold LEED®-certified store (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) and was also the first drive-through store in Thailand.

  • 2014

    Opened its 200th branch: Starbucks Fast Fac, Wang Noi. The branch was launched at the same time as the launch of My Starbucks Rewards™ – privileges offered to Starbucks-coffee-loving members.

  • 2015

    Elevated convenience with the Starbucks Mobile Application, enabling an easier payment method, access to menu information and updates on new promotions.

    Launched the popular Green Tea Frappuccino® Blended Beverage that quickly became customers all-time-favorite.

  • 2016

    Introduced Starbucks® Teavana™, the full-leaf, freshly-brewed tea beverage made with premium, carefully-picked tea leaves and herbs from all around the world and packed in fabric filter bags.

    STARBUCKS BARISTA CHAMPIONSHIP: Starbucks Thailand Partner Yong – Nopparat Arpornsuwan (District Manager) became the Regional Starbucks Barista Champion, which was organized for the first time in Hong Kong.

  • 2016

    Rolled out the first Starbucks Reserve™ Experience store at Gaysorn Plaza. The location has a 360-degree bar for coffee lovers to hang out at a Starbucks Reserve™ Experience and check out diverse brewing methods.

    Marked its 300th store with the opening of Starbucks Reserve™ Experience store at Zpell.

  • 2017

    Launched of the first three-floor Starbucks Flagship Store in Thailand with Starbucks Reserve™ Experience and Nitro coffee options in the heart of Siam Square.

  • 2018

    Celebrated the 20th anniversary with the launch of Starbucks Thailand’s biggest Starbucks Reserve™ Experience store at Central World, 1st FL.

  • 2019

    Enhanced the Starbucks Experience with two new beverage platforms including ‘Coffee Meets Ice Cream’ and ‘Nitro 4-tap’, in addition to partnered delivery service roll out.

  • 2020

    Celebrated the 22nd anniversary in Thailand by delivering 22,000 cups of handcrafted coffee and beverages to healthcare professionals and community workers who tirelessly dedicated themselves in the time of the COVID-19 pandemic.

    Partnered with LINE, Thailand’s most popular chat-platform, to capture wider targets and enhance a more one-on-one communications. Also, launched LINE Starbucks Card to enhance cashless digital payment and recruit new members.

  • Moving forward

    Moving forward toward environmental sustainability. Starbucks is committed to reducing waste from single-use cups and straws and encouraging customers to use reusable cups and straws; using biodegradable paper straws, PLA straws, and sip lids at stores; and introducing plant-based options to migrate toward a more environmentally friendly menu.
